Installative exhibition

Tent structure with aluminum poles, laboratory clamps, and laminar flow hood: 3D ceramic print in faïence blanche with mineral powders, 3D ceramic print in porcelain, mixed materials.

Created during an art-science residency with LE STUDIUM Loire Valley Institute for Advanced Studies, in partnership with the Orléans School of Art and Design (ESAD) and the Center for Molecular Biophysics (CBM – CNRS UPR4301)

In the year 2024–2025 a vessel was imagined, to send life itself beyond the familiar—
a prototype at the speculative edge of astrobiology.
Artificial asteroids: arkships bearing microbial explorers,
a metabolic offering from our world, meant for encounter with their extra-terrestrial kin.
It was never launched. Never completed.
What remains is a suspended trace—
a gesture between imagination and experiment,
a conversation at the edge of the cosmos, waiting to begin.

Alien in the Closet

Performance

With Dr. Sebastian Gfellner & Anna Steward
Live electronic score: Noé Krizic
45 min

A performance where a laboratory protocol becomes choreography, merging astrobiology and science fiction into a shared ritual. The work stages the careful preparation and launch of a microbial explorers’ arkship, centering on procedural work as a form of encounter with the radically other.

Salt bust with Halobacterium salinarum

Agar, DSMZ culture medium, microorganisms H. salinarum
6 × 9 × 10 cm

The salt crystals enclose and preserve the microorganism. The form experiments with the human figure as an inseparable assemblage with microbial life.

Performing Beyond the Human

Lecture performance

A live art investigation that stages an encounter between a human performer and Halobacterium salinarum. The work unfolds as a lecture-performance, where inoculating agar dishes and introducing the archaeal domain blurs the line between scientific demonstration and intimate bodily ritual. It culminates in the sharing of microbial particle, probing the aesthetic and ethical dimensions of becoming-with another species in the Anthropocene.

LUCA: Last Universal Common/Cellular Ancestor

2½ billion years ago, Earth was a bacterial world—slimes, mats, and crusts of bacteria, often brightly coloured, covered the landscape. Oxygen was scarce until cyanobacteria evolved, releasing it as a byproduct. Even our mitochondria were once free-living bacteria, now symbionts inside our cells—making each of us a breathing microbial community.

This work invites you to contemplate yourself as a walking legacy of our ancient microbial ancestors.
